  • Gold School Games Mark 2021-2022

    Mon 18 Jul 2022 G Bleakley

We are delighted to announce that we, Great Staughton Primary Academy, have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible. We are committed to using the School Games to try and engage those young people who haven’t previously been active or represented our school and to try and ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community.

We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school and give opportunities to those young people that need it most either as a participant, leader, official or volunteer. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas linked to the five School Games outcomes and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

  • Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award!

    Mon 11 Jul 2022 G Bleakley

Great Staughton Primary Academy has been awarded the Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award by UNICEF!

UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. The Rights Respecting Schools Award is granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school. Silver is given to schools that make excellent progress towards embedding the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into its ethos and curriculum. There are over 1,300 schools across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales that have achieved Silver and over 600 schools that have been awarded Gold, the next step up and highest accolade granted by UNICEF.

We are really proud of all the staff, children, parents and governors for all their hard work!

  • Parent questionnaires

Fri 29 Nov 2019 Suzi Whiting

We are pleased to let you know that the parent questionnaires were really positive.  Thank you for your ongoing support.  The good news is that 98% of you agree or strongly agree that your child(ren) is happy at school, 98% of you agree or strongly agree that you are kept well-informed about what your child(ren) is learning and 96% of you agree or strongly agree that the school has high expectations for your child(ren).

There are some areas for development though, as expected, and we will be working on those over the coming weeks and months. 24% of you don't think the children are getting the right amount of homework so we will be looking at what positive changes we can make to our arrangements for home learning and 14% disagree that the school runs enough after-school clubs. This will be more difficult as every teacher (& many support staff) already runs at least one club. I will investigate some external companies to see what else can be offered and come back to you with some ideas of cost.

  • GOLD School Games Mark Award

    Fri 20 Jul 2018

I am very excited to announce that we have been awarded the GOLD School Games Mark Award for 2017-2018.

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

A HUGE thank you to all of our staff, parents and wider community clubs who always work so hard to enable this to happen and provide our children with the sporting opportunities that they deserve. Most of all I would like to thank our children who are always enthusiastic and make the most of the opportunities on offer. I look forward to a great sporting 2018-2019.

    Happy holidays!

    Mrs Bullimore
