EYFS

Our children begin to explore design and technology through imaginative play, hands-on experiences and purposeful exploration. Through continuous provision, they access a wide range of materials, tools and construction methods to create, build and experiment. Enhanced provision, carefully planned to meet the individual needs and interests of each child, supports their development across all areas of learning, including early literacy, numeracy and understanding of the world. Activities such as block play, junk modelling and cooking help children develop fine motor skills, spatial awareness and problem-solving abilities. Children are encouraged to think creatively, make choices and adapt their ideas as they work, building a growth mindset. These early experiences lay the foundation for understanding how things are made and how design can meet needs and solve problems, fostering curiosity, resilience and independence.
