Outdoor Learning

In Mars Class we love to take our learning outdoors. In this section you can find out about what we get up to outside come rain or shine!

Week Ending 8th February

This week during forest school we used the yurt to shelter from the very windy weather! During this time we talked about different things we can find in the natural environment as well as why it is important to look after it. Once the wind had dies down we ventured outside and looked for suitable places to hand the pine cone bird feeders we had made in class. We even scattered the leftover birdseed so make sure the birds didn't go hungry! This week we also played a game where we had to choose a natural item and describe it using scientific vocabulary - our friends then had to guess what our object was! We are looking forward to next time!

Week ending 25th January

We were lucky enough to be able to use the fire pit during our forest school session this week. The children were exceptionally well behaved, safe and sensible around the fire making all of the adults very proud! We even sang the song 'Londons Burning' around the fire! During the session we also made dens, attempted to get through the 'spiders web' and used sticks to make wands and fishing rods. We are super excited for next time!

On Friday 11th January 2019 Mars Class had their first Forest School session with Mrs Tickle. The children explored the outdoor area, hunted for mini beasts and made some bug hotels! We are looking forward to our second session on Friday 25th January!

Tuesday 31st October 2017

The children in Mars had a fantastic afternoon exploring our outside area. We worked on our team building, listening and communication skills. This resulted in some fantastic conversations about nature, how trees grow and how we should look after our environment. The children were also taught how to take risks outside safely. We are all looking forward to next week!
